You can help us change the life of a child -- in only one weekend!

Dear Friends,

It takes a significant event to change someone's life in a weekend - child or adult.  Most of our campers suffering from Tourette's syndrome are excluded from many activities in school; are constantly mimicked, bullied, and laughed at; and have very few friends - resulting in many issues.  However, a weekend with over one hundred other children with the same disorder and challenges can magically improve a child's life - improve their outlook, confidence, and self-esteem.

Surprisingly, improving these children's lives at camp is not the challenge. The challenge is actually raising the money to get them there.  With the often over-whelming needs of a child with TS, many families would be unable to attend due to financial constraints.  Understanding this, Camp du Ballon Rouge is the only Tourette camp in the country that is tuition-free to our families!

As we celebrate the 15th anniversary year of dBR, I invite you to join us in support of Camp du Ballon Rouge, March 3-5, 2017.  The joy and the impact your generosity will make is truly magical and tangible.  I am grateful to you for your support in any amount of my efforts to improve the lives of others.

I have personally committed to running the Silverton Double Dirty 30, a 100km (62 miles) mountain trail race, next September, in Colorado's San Juan Mountains to raise funds for camp and to bring awareness about Tourette's to the endurance community.

Again, many, many thanks for your support and have a healthy, happy Holiday Season.

You can indeed positively change a life in one weekend!

Michael Conway

President, Tourette Association - Texas Chapter

Director, Camp dBR

FREE EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS ON TOURETTE’S

Back to SCHOOL often equals Back to STRESS for children with Tourette’s, their parents and their teachers.  To the uniformed, symptoms of Tourette’s seem purposefully disruptive and “disobedient” to teachers.  Additionally, tics and associated disorders such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and/or learning disabilities often keep a child from performing to full potential.

Sheryl Kadmon, Executive Director of the Tourette Association of America – Texas Chapter, can help you and others understand this often baffling disorder and help you advocate successfully for your child in school.  Learn diagnostic criteria for T.S.; categories and phenomenology of tics; associated disorders, such as OCD and ADHD; pharmacologic and other interventions; educational and social implications of the syndrome; accommodations and modifications for the classroom; and how to help prepare your children and yourself for maximum success in life.

These free presentations are perfect for parents, adults with TS, family, physicians, nurses, school personnel and teachers – anyone with an interest in learning about TSClick on our Support link above for location/time details for each city or email TouretteTexas@aol.com for details.  Also watch our Facebook and Twitter pages for specific details.
